Teams take the Road to Rio … in Trinity Leeds!

Teams are being invited to hop into the saddle and support the Jane Tomlinson Appeal by taking on their own 3,000 mile challenge … in just 24 HOURS!

While Mike and the team, which includes TV presenter Charlie Webster and Rugby League legend Keith Senior, are pounding the pedals in Brazil, teams of six will be doing the same in Leeds city centre – but on static bikes.

The teams will be tackling the 24 Hour Ride to Rio in the Trinity Leeds shopping centre on Friday 22nd July – cycling right through the night and into Saturday morning.

While the teams will be mirroring Mike and the team’s 3,000 mile challenge, they can get a helping hand by earning sponsorship – every pound they earn in advance sponsorship will knock a mile off the total distance they need to cycle.

Jane Tomlinson Appeal Events Manager Holli Kellett said: “While Mike and the team are in Brazil, this is a great opportunity for teams to get involved in their own challenge.

While the conditions won’t be as tough as they are across the Atlantic, cycling thousands of miles in 24 hours is no mean feat!

“We hope lots of teams will hop into the saddle and join us!”

Companies, clubs, organisations and groups of friends are now invited to sign up for the challenge. Each team will receive official challenge kit with their team logo as well as plenty of food and drink to sustain them through the 24 hour trial.

Dan Wharton, Marketing Manager at Trinity Leedscomments: “Jane Tomlinson is a great local charity and we’re delighted to be able to support the Ride to Rio. The challenge in Trinity Leeds will be extremely gruelling for those taking part, so we encourage everyone to come down across the weekend of the 22nd and the 23rd July to cheer participants on.”

VIP hospitality at the Marriott Hotel, in Boar Lane, will also provide some respite for team members in between sessions on the bike.

The entry fee for the challenge is £500 and includes entry for six people, team cycling jerseys, VIP hospitality, along with food and drink for the duration.
